Philosophy Statement

My purpose in life is to create art, explore art, and share art. And when I say art I mean all forms of art. I am a formally trained dancer, obsessed with film and music, who occasionally writes and is fascinated by photography. All of that is only a brushstroke in describing how deeply art is a part of who I am. Art allows people to express themselves and explore who they are. Additionally, art has the immense power of healing and promoting change. I believe that art is rooted in social justice and vice versa.

I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. I attended Baltimore School for the Arts for highschool. This is where a dance injury first prompted me to see that I was more than just a dancer. My injury pushed me to expand myself and explore other interests but also gave me the time to look more closely at the community I was a part of. I realized that my purpose was not solely to create and physically move but also to highlight the artistic work of those around me. I founded an arts collective at my high school with that mission. Now, it is a Baltimore non-profit organization called The Arts Collective with an expanded mission.

The Arts Collective is representative of my personal philosophy and purpose as well as the work I plan to dedicate my life to. I hope to bring people together through art so that we may make change together through art.
